Building Schools for the Future – Kent County Council

We undertook site investigations at five active schools as part of Kent County Councils Building Schools for the Future programme. The investigation works undertaken comprised extensive window sampling, dynamic probing, trial pitting, cable tool drilling and foundation inspection pit excavations, together with comprehensive in situ and laboratory testing programmes. These particular investigations required flexibility of programme

as regular changes of scope, client requirements and programme were advised at short notice.

Building Schools for the Future – London Borough of Lambeth

Site investigations were undertaken at three sites within the London Borough of Lambeth. The site investigation works were undertaken in co-ordination with the main contractor and comprised window sampling, cable tool drilling, trial pitting and foundation inspection pits. The intrusive works were supplemented by in situ and laboratory testing programmes.

City College Brighton and Hove, Campus Redevelopment

Site investigations were undertaken at two sites for the proposed redevelopment of college campus facilities.

Site investigations at the main campus comprised drilling of deep cable tool boreholes together with window sampling and deep trial pits to establish extent of buried basement structures. All works were undertaken within an active and busy college car park that was also subject to heavy pedestrian traffic. All excavations including deep trial pit excavations required permanent reinstatement to original or better condition. The works required careful planning and co-ordination with the college authorities. Site investigations at the second site comprised window sampler boreholes and trial pits in conjunction with laboratory and in situ testing.

Extensive geotechnical and contamination laboratory testing was carried out with full human health and groundwater risk assessments inclusive of desk studies provided in addition to geotechnical interpretative reports for each site.
