Environmental Consulting for Regulatory Agencies
Ecology Centre, London Borough of Islington
We were commissioned to carry out a contamination status assessment of former railway sidings adjacent to the ecology centre and provide our opinion as to the suitability of opening this part of the site to members of the public. A desk study and site walkover were carried out and followed up with a hand auger survey and testing of soils. The contamination assessment assessed the site based on the proposed open space land use and included proposals for further works and design considerations required to allow the proposed land use to proceed.
Part 2A Support
We can provide expert witness advice to local authorities and general advice and support to assist local authorities on implementing Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. We are commissioned to provide consultancy support on an as needed basis to the London Borough of Camden.
Brighton and Hove City Council
We have carried out numerous investigations and provided consultancy advice to Brighton and Hove Council. Works have included both geotechnical and contamination investigations. Recent works relating to Part 2A and development proposals under consideration have included soil and produce sampling for chemical contamination from residential gardens and investigation and assessment of risks from ground gases at a former landfill in the Borough.
As well as commissioning us, the Council regularly review our reports relating to developments within the Borough boundary.
The Environment Agency
We have assisted the Environment Agency on numerous projects. Works we have undertaken include the review of and providing comment on 3rd party investigations and risk assessments and audits and desk studies of land owned by the Agency prior to release for sale.
Education Authorities
See education profile. Works undertaken have ranged from simple ground investigations to the provision of geotechnical consultancy and carrying out detailed quantitative human health risk assessments with the derivation of site specific assessment criteria.
