Littlehampton Harbour, West Sussex
Numerous investigation works have been carried out by the company
for the redevelopment of this old riverside harbour. Investigations
have included the drilling of boreholes, the installation of monitoring
standpipes and production of interpretative reports for the design
of sheet pile walls and revetments.
Whitstable, Kent
Working from a scaffold platform extending from the quay wall over
water, this investigation included the drilling of cable percussion
boreholes through the harbour floor. The interpretative report provided
design advice for the construction of a new sea wall.
Gosport Marina, Hampshire
A new marina development in Gosport required Ashdown to carry out
an inspection of an existing quay wall to identify tie rod locations.
Investigation works also included drilling boreholes and carrying
out a programme of laboratory testing to assist in the design of
reclamation works and the development of the waterfront for new
apartments.
Pevensey, East Sussex
Works are proposed to improve flow measurement on existing water
courses throughout the Pevensey Levels, a site of special scientific
interest, in East Sussex. Minimal impact investigation work, carried
out by Ashdown using window sampler and hand augering techniques,
has enabled the soil profile to be modelled and allowed the installation
of new measuring weirs and groundwater monitoring standpipes.
