Hove, East Sussex
The site of an existing waste transfer station was to be remodelled
with the construction of a new, more efficient, waste transfer station
together with new commercial premises.
Ashdown Site Investigation was commissioned to carry out a geotechnical
and environmental investigation of the site and to provide an environmental
assessment report on its contamination status, together with engineering
advice for the design of foundations.
Medway City Estate, Rochester, Kent
The first phase of this project comprised the construction of a
new waste transfer station and offices on previously reclaimed mudflats
on the banks of the Medway Estuary. A second phase will involve
further reclamation of the adjacent mud flats.
An intrusive ground investigation was made including the excavation
of boreholes and trial pits, gas monitoring, and undertaking extensive
in situ plate bearing tests. The investigation was designed to provide
engineering advice for the design of ground floors and road pavements,
together with an earthworks specifications and construction advice
for the reclamation of the area of mud flats.
Watford, Hertfordshire
A simple portal framed structure was proposed for the waste transfer
station to be constructed on land adjacent to a railway line at
Watford, Hertfordshire.
Ashdown staff carried out a ground investigation by means of trial
pits and dynamic probing in order to provide foundation design parameters
for the new building. Advice was also provided on environmental
protection issues relating to pre-existing conditions on the site.
