Estimator and Contract Support Manager
The position is mainly office based but will require occasional visits to ground investigation sites located within the south-east of England. The primary role encompasses preparation of estimates including preparation of Bills of Quantities and offer letters. This will require working closely with Principal Engineers and Directors who will develop the technical scope of works to be undertaken.
The position also involves close liaison with Principal and Senior Engineers to support project management of ground investigations, specifically in relation to co-ordinating plant and subcontractor attendance on site.
The role is based out of our head office location at Ditchling Common Business Park. The following is a list of non-exclusive core activities of the role.
- Drafting estimates for Director approval.
- Drafting invoices for Principal / Director approval.
- Assisting project managers with site works co-ordination.
- Assisting with management of in-house plant and technical equipment.
- Assisting development of approved contractor list.
This is a full time permanent position. 40hr week; Monday to Friday (8hrs per day)
General proficiency in computers: computer file management, use of word-processing and spreadsheet software is required. Experience of database operation would be beneficial. Experience of working within general construction industry is essential. Previous experience of specific ground investigation /site investigation business would be beneficial but is not essential.
Good organisational skills as well as a determination to see specific allocated tasks completed to the best of the individual’s ability are essential attributes. Fastidious attention to detail is needed as well as the ability to understand and predict impact and consequences of programme changes. The candidate should have the ability to manage short notice changes effectively. The successful applicant should be enthusiastic about development of operational systems to gain efficiencies in their and other people’s roles.
The position is mainly site based requiring attendance at ground investigation sites located within the south-east of England. Some office working will be required. In general site works for individual sites are limited to a single shift (period of a day), but successive shifts at individual sites are required for larger projects.
The position is based out of our head office location at Ditchling Common Business Park. The following is a list of non-exclusive core activities of the role.
- Supervise and assist with site work (logging boreholes, excavating trial pits, undertaking in-situ testing, sampling, logging etc.) in accordance with instructions and training.
- Drafting reports/estimates/invoices under supervision.
- Liaise with clients, sub-contractors and plant hire companies.
- Assist with site data processing.
- Scheduling of laboratory testing.
- Undertake engineering/statistical calculations under supervision.
This is a full time permanent position.
General proficiency in computers: computer file management, use of word-processing and spreadsheet software. Previous experience of ground investigation work and soil / rock logging would be beneficial but not essential.
Good organisational, time keeping and team working skills, attention to detail as well as a determination to see specific allocated tasks completed to the best of the individual’s ability are essential attributes. The role involves mainly outdoor working (in all weather) and a demonstrable liking for outdoor activities is preferred.
