Geotechnical Soils Laboratory Technician
We are looking to recruit a soils laboratory technician. The position is based at our head office in Ditchling Common Business Park.The role requires no previous experience or qualifications. Full training for all aspects of the role will be given.
The role primarily involves carrying out basic geotechnical laboratory tests on soil samples to determine the physical properties of those soils, the organisation of samples and their storage, and the arrangement of batches of samples for dispatch to external labs by courier.
This is either a full-time permanent position; 40hr week, Monday to Friday (8hrs per day) or part time; 20hr week, Monday to Friday (4hrs per day), though the company may consider alternative part time distribution of hours for a suitable candidate.
Salary is from £12.21/hr. 28 Days holiday including bank holidays for full time position. For part time positions the holiday allowance would be applied on a Pro Rata basis.
No experience in the site investigation industry or in undertaking soil testing is necessary. However, the role can involve the physical handling of moderately heavy soil samples, working with basic test equipment and recording test results so accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
The role requires good organisational, time keeping and team working skills, attention to detail as well as a determination to see specific allocated tasks completed to a given programme.

Graduate Engineer
We are currently looking to recruit a graduate geotechnical engineer/geologist based out of our Head Office in Ditchling, West Sussex, starting immediately.
The role is mainly site based, with principal duties including:
- Assisting with and ultimately supervising site work (drilling boreholes, excavating trial pits, undertaking in-situ testing, sampling, logging etc.) in accordance with instructions and training.
- Drafting of borehole/trial pit logs.
- Scheduling of laboratory testing.
The role does involve physical work such as assisting with moving of test equipment and excavation of inspection pits.
Secondary office duties would include:
- Drafting of logs and reports under supervision.
- Liaising with clients.
- Assisting with organising and scheduling site works.
No previous experience is required as full training will be provided. However, any experience would be advantageous.
Candidates must hold a full UK driving license. You must be willing to work in all weather conditions. Site works will generally involve early and punctual start times. As the role involves physical work, you should be reasonably fit and capable of manual work. Remuneration will be negotiated commensurate with experience.
